Inviting Team Members

Build your renovation dream team by inviting family, contractors, and specialists

Working Together on Your Renovation

Home renovations work best as a team effort. With Home Renovation Pro, you can easily invite family members, contractors, designers, and other collaborators to join your projects.

Why Add Team Members

Adding team members to your projects provides several benefits:

  • Everyone stays in the loop with the latest updates and changes
  • Tasks can be assigned to specific people with clear responsibilities
  • Communication stays organized in one place instead of scattered emails and texts
  • Decisions are documented so everyone knows what was decided and why
  • Files are shared in one central location accessible to everyone who needs them

How to Invite Team Members

Follow these simple steps to invite someone to your project:

  1. Open the project you want to add team members to
  2. Click on the "Team" tab in the project navigation
  3. Click the "Add Member" button
  4. Enter their email address (they'll receive an invitation)
  5. Select their role (more on roles below)
  6. Add a personal message (optional but recommended)
  7. Click "Send Invitation"

Tip: If the person doesn't have an account yet, they'll be guided through creating one when they accept your invitation.

Understanding Team Roles

When adding team members, you'll need to assign them a role that determines what they can do in the project:

Owner (You)

As the project owner, you have full control over everything, including deleting the project and managing team members.

Admin

Admins can edit all aspects of the project and invite new members, but cannot delete the project or change the owner.

Contributor

Contributors can add and edit tasks, upload files, and participate in discussions, but cannot change project settings.

Viewer

Viewers can only see project details and comments but cannot make changes. Perfect for consultants who just need to review.

Warning: Choose roles carefully. Admins have significant control over your project, so reserve this role for people you trust completely.

Managing Your Team

Once you've invited team members, you can manage their access and roles:

  • Change roles: Click on a team member in the Team tab and select "Edit Role"
  • Remove a member: Click on the team member and select "Remove from Project"
  • Resend invitation: If someone hasn't accepted yet, click "Resend Invitation"
  • View activity: See each team member's contributions in the Activity Log

Tip: If you're working with contractors or specialists for just one part of your renovation, you can remove them when their work is complete to keep your team focused.

Best Practices for Team Collaboration

Here are some tips to make team collaboration smooth and effective:

  • Add a personalized message when inviting team members to explain why you're adding them
  • Create a "Welcome" task with important project information for new team members
  • Start with "Viewer" access for contractors until contracts are finalized
  • Clearly define responsibilities so everyone knows what they're expected to do
  • Schedule a quick orientation call with new team members who aren't familiar with the platform
  • Use @mentions in comments to notify specific team members about important updates
